In order to prove anything, you need to have completed the appropriate legal forms, and in most cases, paid the appropriate fee. This can be for simple things such as requesting a SSI number or replacing your driver's license. Or it can be for more serious things such as bringing a legal case against someone who has caused you injury.
Legal forms weren't created for the uneducated. They are often long-winded, use outdated language, ask you to repeat yourself in several places on the form, and generally raise your stress level considerably. This usually ensures that you take the forms that you have managed to get for free, to a legal professional and pay for them to help you fill them in!
Any time you want to do something that constitutes a legal action, whether it is the acquisition of a legal document, such as a passport, or start litigation against someone who owes you money, there will be a wide variety of legal forms just waiting for you to fill in - this process is usually known as stalling! It also separates those who might be serious about starting the process from those who don't really care because if they don't care, they aren't going to be bothered to complete the forms. Some legal forms will require you to have photographs attached to show that you are who you say you are, others require you to have someone sign to say that you are who you say you are - occasionally you will need both and someone will need to sign the photos! All this proves is not that you are who you say you are at all - just that you have a friend who will stand by you, but that's the legal system! Legal forms are not something that can usually be avoided unless you don't drive, need a passport or general photo ID, and stay out of the legal profession. Most of us at some time or other will need to complete some of these forms just to have a normal life, so you have to wonder why these forms are made so complicated instead of being clear and easy to complete for the general public who need to use them. |
